Soccer Game Preview: San Benito vs. Edinburg North

The San Benito Greyhounds will head out to challenge the Edinburg North Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Benito will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more goals each matchup than the last.

San Benito is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Weslaco 6-2 on Friday. Jiovanni Najera was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Edinburg North entered their tilt with Harlingen on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Cardinals onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Cougars were the better team in the second half.

Edinburg North's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three games. As for San Benito, their win bumped their record up to 4-1-1.

San Benito might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Edinburg North when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can San Benito avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
