Baseball Game Preview: Veterans Memorial Chargers vs. Economedes Jaguars

The Veterans Memorial Chargers will head out to square off against the Economedes Jaguars at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Veterans Memorial turned things around against Economedes on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Jaguars 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chargers have posted since March 1st.

Andres Martinez tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

He has become a key player for Veterans Memorial: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alex Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Veterans Memorial back to even at 8-8. As for Economedes, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
