The Fountain Inn Fury will take on the Southside Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Inn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Fountain Inn couldn't beat Westside on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Fury fell 10-5 to the Rams. That's two games in a row now that the Fury have lost by exactly five runs.
Zoey Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Herring, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southside). They walked away with a 33-28 win over Carolina Academy on Friday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Treasure Williams and Katie Carter did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, five RBI, and two doubles, while Carter got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five stolen bases, and three runs. Those five runs gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Icely Santamaria, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and five runs.
Southside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .640. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fountain Inn has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Southside, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fountain Inn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Southside struggles in that department as they've averaged .595. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fountain Inn took their victory against Southside when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Will the Fury repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
