Baseball Recap: Del Campo Comes Up Short

Del Campo extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 7-15. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yuba City Honkers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Honkers this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat on Wednesday.

Del Campo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Placencia, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Yuba City, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

On Yuba City's side, Cesar Guizar made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Guizar has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Brody Miller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Yuba City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Max Guth was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Del Campo will welcome River Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Yuba City, they will take on Placer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hillmen's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Honkers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
