Recap: Mountain View Spartans vs. Palo Alto Vikings

After a string of three wins, the Mountain View Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Palo Alto. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain View in their matchups with Palo Alto: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Mountain View still got an impressive performance from Arturo Hernandez, who rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Viliami Sekona, who picked up 18 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Jason Auzenne was on fire for Palo Alto: he picked up 166 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Auzenne's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Jeremiah Madrigal was another key contributor, rushing for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Mountain View now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Palo Alto, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Palo Alto will head out on the road to face off against St. Vincent de Paul at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Vincent de Paul will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
