Softball Recap: Davenport Wins Going Away Against Bishop Moore

Davenport barely beat Bishop Moore the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Davenport Broncos blew past the Bishop Moore Hornets 11-4 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Ashanti Pagan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Jordyn Duran was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avalina Cleffi, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Duran wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Davenport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Davenport's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Bishop Moore, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Davenport will head out to square off against Ridge Community at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Davenport is facing Ridge Community at the right time seeing as Ridge Community is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bishop Moore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ocoee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
