Softball Game Preview: Newark Wildcats vs. Newark Catholic Green Wave

The Newark Wildcats will square off against the Newark Catholic Green Wave at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newark is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Newark came up short against Olentangy Liberty and fell 4-1.

Meanwhile, Newark Catholic gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ridgewood, sneaking past 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Green Wave.

Newark Catholic's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aly Rothweiler (2026), who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Newark Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Newark, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Newark skirted past Newark Catholic 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Green Wave have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
