Basketball Game Preview: Dietrich Blue Devils vs. Richfield Tigers

The Dietrich Blue Devils will face off against the Richfield Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dietrich knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Richfield likes a good challenge.

Dietrich is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Richfield: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Dietrich blew Richfield out of the water with a 72-34 final score. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Dietrich's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Torgerson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Torgerson a new career-high in steals (five). Connor Perkins was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds.

Dietrich pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points over those games. As for Richfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season.
