Volleyball Recap: Melbourne Comes Up Short

Melbourne was the 3-0 winner over West Shore when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Wildcats on Friday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Melbourne lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 26-24, 13-25, 25-23.

Despite the loss, Melbourne still got an impressive performance from Kamryn Simcox, who had 14 digs and three aces. Anya Connelly also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Leading West Shore to victory were Alice Lin and Violet Castillo. Lin had 15 digs and two aces, while Castillo had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Lin has posted since back in September of 2024.

Melbourne's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for West Shore, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Melbourne has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Melbourne Central Catholic on the 3rd. As for West Shore, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Odyssey Charter School on the 2nd.
