Softball Game Preview: Stratford Knights vs. Berkeley Stags

Stratford hasn't had much luck against Berkeley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will take on the Stags at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, it was close, but Stratford sidestepped Lucy Beckham for a 4-2 win.

Meanwhile, Berkeley waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 13-0 shutout. The Stags might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Berkeley pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Stratford, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4-1.

Stratford suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Berkeley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
