Softball Recap: Dixie County Comes Up Short

Dixie County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Branford Buccaneers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in February.

Dixie County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzi Parker, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Parker a new career-high.

Dixie County's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Branford, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Dixie County and Branford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Dixie County (ranked 390th) will meet Union County (ranked 150th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Branford will face off against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 32 places (34 vs. 2).
