Softball Recap: Paxton Starts Season with Win Against Laurel Hill

Paxton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Laurel Hill Hoboes with a sharp 16-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bobcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Avionnah Padgett and Alyssa Falk did most of the damage at the plate: Padgett scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Falk scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Padgett a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hall, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Laurel Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Paxton Bobcats take on Chipley Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chipley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Laurel Hill, they will challenge Poplar Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel Hill has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
