Basketball Game Preview: Atlantic Eagles vs. Blanche Ely Tigers

The Atlantic Eagles will face off against the Blanche Ely Tigers on Friday. Atlantic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Blanche Ely likes a good challenge.

Atlantic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They strolled past Dr. Joaquin Garcia with points to spare, taking the game 72-58.

Atlantic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Richard, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was James Tillman, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Blanche Ely posted their biggest win since January 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They blew past Northeast 71-40. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Blanche Ely has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Atlantic, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.

Atlantic came up short against Blanche Ely in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 77-73. Can Atlantic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
