Soccer Game Preview: Clayton Valley Charter vs. Acalanes

The Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles will take on the Acalanes Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clayton Valley Charter comes in on three and Acalanes on five.

Clayton Valley Charter gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged Campolindo out 3-2. That's two games straight that the Ugly Eagles have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Acalanes kept a clean sheet against Las Lomas on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Knights. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Knights are ranked 589th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Acalanes' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-1-1 record this season.

Clayton Valley Charter skirted past Acalanes 2-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Clayton Valley Charter repeat their success, or does Acalanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
