The San Marcos Knights will head out to take on the Torrey Pines Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (San Marcos 3.3, Torrey Pines 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
San Marcos' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Poway hitters got past them. The Knights came up short against the Titans on Friday, falling 14-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since April 18, 2024.

Max Farrell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maddox Ponsford, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Torrey Pines and Carlsbad, and Carlsbad kept the tradition alive. The Falcons fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 7-6 on Friday.
Torrey Pines saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cy Alexander, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was Alexander's first of the season. Ethan Shi was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Torrey Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for San Marcos, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. San Marcos has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Torrey Pines struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
San Marcos came out on top in a nail-biter against Torrey Pines in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
