Football Game Preview: Righetti Warriors vs. Wasco Tigers + Official Tickets

The Righetti Warriors will square off against the Wasco Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 815 yards in their previous games.

Righetti gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 34-24 victory over Santa Ynez. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Righetti found their leader in freshman Michael Mendez, who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Mendez.

Meanwhile, Wasco unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 39-33 to Shafter. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Generals 7-3 in the first quarter.

Righetti will have to contain Hammie Lopez as he made an impact in Wasco's last game. He rushed for 174 yards and four scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards and one TD. Lopez also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making three total tackles. Jayven Hernandez was another key player, rushing for 77 yards on only ten carries.

Wasco's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Righetti, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Righetti has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wasco struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 293.6 rushing yards.
