Recap: Homestead Highlanders vs. Cedarburg Bulldogs
Make it eight blowout wins for the Homestead Highlanders this season. They claimed a resounding 90-60 win over Cedarburg at home. Given Homestead's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Cedarburg is ranked 74th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Homestead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tim Franks led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Polite, who scored 21 points along with six assists and three steals.
Homestead's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.8 points per game. As for Cedarburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Homestead will square off against Benilde-St. Margaret's at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Benilde-St. Margaret's knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Homestead likes a good challenge. Cedarburg will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Racine Park at 11:00 a.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Racine Park's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
