Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only O'Fallon walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Belleville East Lancers on Saturday. The Panthers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6th (when they won 11-1).

Sam McCollum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since May 6th.

In other batting news, Brayden Robertson was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Cox, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

O'Fallon lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

O'Fallon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Belleville East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-16 record this season.

As of now, neither O'Fallon nor Belleville East have any future games scheduled.
