Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is GVCS Broadfording's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

GVCS Broadfording's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Faith Christian Academy Falcons 64-43. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

GVCS Broadfording found their leader in sophomore Fernando Garcia, who went 10 for 18 en route to 23 points and six steals. The contest was Garcia's ninth in a row with at least 15 points. Brandon Monroe was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

GVCS Broadfording has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points over those games. As for Faith Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. GVCS Broadfording will challenge Berkeley Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. GVCS Broadfording is facing Berkeley Springs at the right time seeing as Berkeley Springs is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Mountain View Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Faith Christian Academy will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Mountain View Christian Academy will have lost four straight heading into Monday's contest.
