Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Fossil Ridge was riding high fresh off their 95-40 takedown of Greeley West on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fossil Ridge SaberCats fell to the Overland Trailblazers 62-56.

Cayden Clagett and Drake Walker certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Clagett went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points, while Walker went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points. Malachai Egbuji also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Overland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mehki Mcneal out in front who went 5 for 7 on his way to 14 points and five boards. Those 14 points gave Mcneal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Siraaj Ali, who went 5 of 8 en route to 16 points.

Fossil Ridge's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Overland, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.

Fossil Ridge will be playing at home against Poudre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Overland, they will head out on the road to take on Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mullen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
