Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Corcoran's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Corcoran won the last time they faced Strathmore and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Corcoran Panthers walked away with a 55-44 victory over the Strathmore Spartans. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Spartans are ranked 764th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Corcoran got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Javon Bragg out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. Bragg's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Jenkins, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 18 rebounds.

Corcoran has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Strathmore, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Corcoran Panthers take on the Woodlake Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Corcoran knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Woodlake likes a good challenge. As for Strathmore, they will challenge Granite Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
