Recap: Cypress Lakes Spartans vs. Foster Falcons

The Cypress Lakes Spartans fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Foster Falcons on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Saturday (59), Cypress Lakes still had to take the loss.

Foster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaron Martin led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Daniel Humphrey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Cypress Lakes' loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 6-6. As for Foster, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-10.

Cypress Lakes will square off against Cypress Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cypress Lakes in Texas (Cypress Springs is ranked 69th, while Cypress Lakes is ranked 547th). Foster will be home for the holidays to greet Angleton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Angleton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Foster likes a good challenge.
