Basketball Recap: Jamestown Starts Season with Victory Against Salamanca

Jamestown gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They took down the Salamanca Warriors 51-34.

Jamestown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carley Daniels out in front who posted eight points along with 13 assists and seven boards. Daniels is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Payton Gibbs was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Leilene Mccomber and Makenzie Crouse certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Mccomber went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points, while Crouse had two points along with 11 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. Those 11 boards gave Crouse a new career-high.

Jamestown will take on Wilson at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Salamanca, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 32-31 victory against Pioneer on the 11th.
