Baseball Game Preview: Perryton Rangers vs. Borger Bulldogs

Perryton has gone a perfect 10-0 against Borger recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rangers will face off against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Perryton will be strutting in after a win while Borger will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Perryton needed a bit of extra time to put away Hereford. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Whitefaces 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rangers have posted since March 6th.

Isaac Chavira spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaxten Castanon was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run. Perryton is 4-1 when Castanon posts three or more hits, but 4-14 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Borger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against Canyon, falling 14-0.

The victory snapped Perryton's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-15 record. As for Borger, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.

Perryton beat Borger 14-10 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
