Softball Recap: Marshall County Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Lawrence County typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Marshall County proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Wildcats. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Brookelyn Nunley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zakiya Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Brynlee Walls was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Marshall County pushed their record up to 9-11-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lawrence County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10.

As of now, neither Marshall County nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
