Softball Game Preview: Emerson Mavericks vs. Lovejoy Leopards

The Emerson Mavericks will challenge the Lovejoy Leopards on Saturday. Emerson is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Emerson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Creekview with a sharp 14-8 win. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Amilee Stapp was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Thurman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

One must be Lovejoy's lucky number: they beat Whitehouse with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Leopards didn't even let the Wildcats on the board, marking the Leopards' second-straight 1-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Leopards.

Lovejoy's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sameera Saluja, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Emerson's record is now 17-7-1. As for Lovejoy, their record now sits at 21-11.

Emerson might still be hurting after the 12-3 defeat they got from Lovejoy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Mavericks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
