Baseball Preview: Marksville Tigers vs. Oberlin Tigers
Marksville will head out to square off against Oberlin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Marksville earned a 13-9 victory over St. Joseph's - Plaucheville. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Beau Bryant was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cade Cleghorn also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oberlin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Merryville 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Oberlin's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for Marksville, their victory bumped their record up to 5-17.
Marksville came out on top in a nail-biter against Oberlin when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marksville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
