Horizon Science Academy triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Hawa Ba

Recap: Horizon Science Academy Hawks vs. Granville Christian Academy

The Horizon Science Academy Hawks waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 37-25 victory over Granville Christian Academy. For Horizon Science Academy, this counts as revenge for the 50-12 defeat Granville Christian Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.

Hawa Ba continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 15 times she's played. Glory Owoyemi was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Several Granville Christian Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ella Rhoads, who scored six points along with five assists and three blocks. Rhoads is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Cox, who scored five points along with six steals.

The win got Horizon Science Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Granville Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Horizon Science Academy will head out on the road to challenge Delaware Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Horizon Science Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. As for Granville Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Shekinah Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Granville Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
