Softball Recap: Apple Valley Comes Up Short

Apple Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against the Farmington Tigers, falling 12-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 10-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Apple Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Duran, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Duran has hit this season.

As for Farmington, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On Farmington's side, not much got past Kayla Schweich, who gave up just three hits to keep Apple Valley off the board. Schweich has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayley Schuenemann, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Madison Westover was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apple Valley will take on Rockford in a tournament on Saturday. As for Farmington, they will challenge Eagan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
