Football Recap: Mira Costa Comes Up Short

If Mira Costa was riding high fresh off their 46-0 takedown of Mayfair last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell 27-14 to the San Pedro Pirates on Wednesday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

San Pedro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Fatima Ramirez led the charge by picking up 78 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 63 yards and one touchdown. Naomi Eneliko was in the mix too, providing the Pirates with two TDs.

Mira Costa's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for San Pedro, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Mira Costa wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-6 win against Peninsula on the 11th. As for San Pedro, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Narbonne at 2:30 p.m. on the 25th.
