Basketball Recap: Hackberry Takes a Loss

Hackberry lost against Merryville back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hackberry Mustangs were dealt a 63-35 defeat at the hands of the Merryville Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Panthers are ranked 71st).

Hackberry's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Merryville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Hackberry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-10 defeat against Leesville on the 14th. Merryville will take on Westlake in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
