Basketball Game Preview: Westfield Wolverines vs. Randolph Cardinals

The Westfield Wolverines will square off against the Randolph Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Westfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Brocton 89-51. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolverines, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Carson Swanson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double with 47 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Westfield's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Maguire, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards.

Westfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Randolph, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Chautauqua Lake 66-39. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Randolph pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points over those games. As for Westfield, their record now sits at 19-2.

Westfield didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Randolph in their previous meeting back in February, but they still walked away with a 43-39 win. Will Westfield repeat their success, or does Randolph have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
