Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Malora Moluf and Allie Mcguire Lead Bluegrass United to Victory

Bluegrass United lost to Forsyth Home Educators back in March of 2018, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Bluegrass United Bluehawks came out on top against the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks by a score of 52-39. Given the Bluehawks' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 165th in Kentucky, while the Hawks are ranked 349th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bluegrass United was led to victory by Allie McGuire and Malora Moluf. McGuire went 7-for-17 on her way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Moluf shot 44% from the field to rack up 19 points. McGuire continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emilie Hanssen, who posted two points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Bluegrass United was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are 15-5 when they've passed the ball that well.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Harkey, who scored 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Arnold, who put up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Bluegrass United's record now sits at 16-21. As for Forsyth Home Educators, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-15 record this season.

Coincidentally, Bluegrass United and Forsyth Home Educators will both be playing Fairfax HomeSchool the next time they take the court. Bluegrass United will head out to face Fairfax HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Forsyth Home Educators will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
