Basketball Recap: Lumberton Pirates vs. Seventy-First Falcons

After flying high against South View last Tuesday, Lumberton came back down to earth. The Lumberton Pirates were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 51-50 to the Seventy-First Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent loss being a 75-66 defeat last Tuesday.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaiden Shephard, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Even though they lost, Lumberton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive contests.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Seventy-First, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
