Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield Central Wildcats vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Plainfield Central Wildcats will take on the Providence Catholic Celtics in a tournament on Friday. Plainfield Central will be strutting in after a win while Providence Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Plainfield Central will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 26 points on Monday, then bounced right back against Bradley-Bourbonnais on Wednesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 55-46 victory over the Boilermakers. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Boilermakers on their court since November 26, 2021.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Lemont on Wednesday and fell 59-56. The Celtics haven't had much luck with the Lemont HS recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Providence Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Plainfield Central, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Plainfield Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Providence Catholic when the teams last played back in November of 2022, sneaking past 47-45. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Celtics have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
