Basketball Game Preview: Durango Demons vs. Grand Junction Tigers

The Durango Demons will take on the Grand Junction Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Durango is headed into Saturday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They lost to Fruita Monument at home by a 58-42 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Wildcats are ranked 18th).

Grand Junction's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Uintah on Friday. Grand Junction skirted past Montrose 30-28. The 30-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Grand Junction's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. As for Durango, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-6.

Durango was able to grind out a solid win over Grand Junction in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 40-31. Does Durango have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand Junction turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
