Baseball Recap: Hanford West Comes Up Short

After flying high against Reedley on Thursday, Hanford West came back down to earth. The Huskies fell 7-4 to the Hanford Bullpups on Monday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bullpups apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Samuel Sandoval made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Hanford West is 5-1 when Sandoval posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Kailin Hwang was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Hanford West's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Hanford, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Coming up, Hanford West will venture away from home to face off against Exeter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Monarchs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Hanford, they will host Mission Oak at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
