Basketball Recap: Jayden Brister's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cardozo over Epic South

Cardozo and Epic South squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Cardozo had to settle for second. They fell just short of Epic South by a score of 55-53. The Judges were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Epic South apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Judges players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Brister, who posted 18 points. The game was Brister's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Yaw Pabi Jr. was another key player, putting up nine points.

Cardozo's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Epic South, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Cardozo will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Erasmus Hall at 5:00 p.m. on February 26th. One thing working in Erasmus Hall's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Epic South, they have already played their next match, a 58-53 victory against Forest Hills on the 15th.
