Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Santa Rosa had won four straight games and Aiden Garcia did her part to make it five on Friday. The Santa Rosa Warriors walked away with a 49-40 win over the IDEA Weslaco Pike Mavericks thanks in part to Garcia, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 11 games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Kamryn Navarro, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Santa Rosa's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for IDEA Weslaco Pike, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Santa Rosa will head out on the road to take on IDEA Frontier College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for IDEA Frontier College Prep: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Santa Rosa has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for IDEA Weslaco Pike, they will welcome Raymondville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Weslaco Pike has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
