Soccer Game Preview: Mohave vs. Lee Williams

The Mohave Thunderbirds will head out on the road to square off against the Lee Williams Volunteers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mohave will be strutting in after a win while Lee Williams will be coming in after a loss.

Mohave gave up the first goal on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a goal and slipped past Flagstaff 2-1. Kelly Osuna had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Thunderbirds got from the refs.

Mohave was without their leading scorer, Paxten Bristol, in Saturday's matchup. With Bristol sidelined, Mohave had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Emily Hamilton (80), Tiffany Sauer (69), and Morgan Hoffman (80). The trio had averaged 55.4, 45.7, and 53.1 minutes respectively before Saturday's contest.

Meanwhile, Lee Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 4-2 to Flagstaff. That's two games in a row now that the Volunteers have lost by exactly two goals.

Mohave's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6-2. As for Lee Williams, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Mohave came up short against Lee Williams in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 4-2. Can Mohave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
