It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but University ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Woodside Wildcats. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Devils, who have now won 11 games in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jett Messenger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Owen Chee, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.

University's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Woodside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

University will challenge Urban at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blues have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Woodside, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against El Camino at 4:00 p.m. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.58 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
