Softball Recap: University Prep's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Granite Hills last Thursday, University Prep came back down to earth. The University Prep Jaguars came up short against the Summit SkyHawks on Monday, falling 20-10.

Paityn Zimmerman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saidy Gonzalez, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, University Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit struck out eight times.

University Prep's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Summit, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-7.

Coming up, University Prep will head out to challenge Ontario Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Summit, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Rancho Cucamonga at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Summit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
