Preview: Gateway Gators vs. San Francisco Waldorf Wolverines
Gateway and the Wolverines are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Gateway Gators will head out on the road to challenge the San Francisco Waldorf Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gateway is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Gateway came up short against the Dragons and fell 56-45. That's two games in a row now that Gateway has lost by exactly 11 points.
Meanwhile, San Francisco Waldorf earned a 53-46 win over the Breakers on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for San Francisco Waldorf.
San Francisco Waldorf's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jasper Burgard, who scored 15 points, and Miles MacDonald, who scored 18 points. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which MacDonald has scored at least a third of San Francisco Waldorf's points.
Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for San Francisco Waldorf, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Gateway didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Wolverines in their previous meeting last Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was MacDonald, who scored 26 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Gateway still be able to contain MacDonald? There's only one way to find out.
