Eastern South Dakota recap September 10, 2013

Aberdeen Central scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Brookings, 28-12. At the time, the Bobcats were ranked 17th in the state, while the Golden Eagles were 27th.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mitchell, who defeated 19th ranked Harrisburg, 21-14. Landon Neugebauer ran for 42 yards and caught 3 passes for 22 yards in the win.

Yankton's dynamic duo of Mason Strahl and JJ Hejna proved tough for Stevens to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Strahl threw for 411 yards and 3 touchdowns and Hejna had 209 yards receiving. Tanner Termansen helped Yankton's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 145 yards.

The Bucks/Gazelles' dynamic duo of Strahl and Hejna proved to be unstoppable against the Raiders, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Neugebauer was the best running back in Eastern South Dakota this week. Mitch Johnson also contributed to the rushing game with 15 yards on the ground.

Strahl put up the best numbers in passing as Yankton topped Stevens.

He was 17-23 with 0 interceptions.

Hejna was the best receiver in the league this week as Arlin Likness' team defeated Scott Hagen's team.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Riggs takes on second place Mitchell. Riggs topped Rapid City Central last week, while the Kernels beat the Tigers.

Strahl and Termansen provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Raiders. The connection was good for 88 yards, the longest such play in Eastern South Dakota this season.
