Basketball Recap: Collin Jenner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Etna over Mt. Shasta

Etna lost to Mt. Shasta two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions took a 60-43 bruising from the Bears. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Etna lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Collin Jenner, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joesiah Mullen, who put up 11 points.

Mt. Shasta was led to victory by Nick Mangrum and Liam McWilliams. Mangrum went 6-for-10 on his way to 12 points and seven boards, while McWilliams shot 63% from the field to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave McWilliams a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Connor Hembree, who scored seven points and seven rebounds.

Etna's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Mt. Shasta, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Etna will head out on the road to square off against Trinity at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Shasta, they will welcome Weed at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
