Basketball Recap: Walnut Comes Up Short

Walnut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Nettleton Tigers, falling 93-73. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-55 on November 8th.

When it comes to explaining why Walnut lost, don't look at Logan Wilbanks. Despite the final result, he went 12-for-24 on his way to 30 points. Wilbanks' afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Cardwell, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Walnut's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Nettleton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut will head out to take on Alcorn Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nettleton, they will venture away from home to challenge Amory at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
