Basketball Game Preview: La Salle Lancers vs. Verbum Dei Jesuit Eagles

The La Salle Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against the Verbum Dei Jesuit Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

La Salle is headed into the game having just posted their biggest win since November 19, 2024 on Monday. They blew past North Hollywood 67-34.

Meanwhile, Verbum Dei Jesuit had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They slipped by the Cubs 56-55. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Cubs are ranked 66th).

Verbum Dei Jesuit is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for La Salle, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.

La Salle couldn't quite finish off Verbum Dei Jesuit when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 57-54.
