Preview: Cambridge N/A vs. Salem Generals
Cambridge is 8-2 against Salem since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Cambridge N/A will head out on the road to face off against the Salem Generals at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Cambridge and 13 for Salem.
Cambridge pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tamarac.
Salem suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 77-51 walloping at the hands of Argyle. While losing is never fun, Salem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 810th, while Argyle is ranked 322nd).
Despite the defeat, Salem had strong showings from Ethan Hickland, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Josh Harrington, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hickland has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Salem smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cambridge's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.
Everything came up roses for Cambridge against Salem in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 62-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cambridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
