Softball Game Preview: Saint Mary's Panthers vs. Rancho Cotate Cougars

The Saint Mary's Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Rancho Cotate Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Saint Mary's has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Saint Mary's made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Albany, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Zoe Buckner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. London Crawford was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Rancho Cotate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Windsor, falling 15-5.

Isabella Scardina was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Schmelzel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Saint Mary's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Rancho Cotate, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
