Jackson County had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it nine. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monterey Wildcats. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Blue Devils haven't been shut out since back in March.
As for Monterey, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.
For Monterey's part, not much got past Alexandrea Novak, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Jackson County off the board. Novak has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haylee Trevathan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
